These pages are a summary of my understanding of the Takarangi Competencies, and how they translate into practical clinical practice. Comments, criticism and correction are welcomed. Please feel free to email me (johann@js.net.nz).

In the context of competency as a Mental Health Professional, Takarangi prescribes an awareness of Maori cultural elements and their thoughtful and deliberate implementation in clinical practice. They're described in terms of Maori perspective (top/red), and application in the western clinical situation (bottom/blue).
